When did you start with this company? I started my business February of 2001 because I wanted all the toys at a discount . . . and I just needed to get out of the house for some adult conversation once in a while. Children are the most precious gifts we have been given. I share Discovery Toys with families to help ensure a brighter tomorrow. Children love the toys because they are fun, and while they are playing, they are learning. Discovery Toys allows me to build my work schedule around my family while earning an income that supports my lifestyle. It is now my privilege to share the same opportunity with others.

What is the startup investment? What are the minimum monthly or quarterly sales, if any?   Discovery Toys does not have a monthly minimum. This is YOUR business; you decide how much you want to put into it and that will determine what you get out of it! You can work this business around your family schedule, full or part time.

What is your commission on your own sales?  As independent consultants, we buy the products directly from Discovery Toys and sell them directly to our customers. There is no middleman and no markup on the products from Discovery Toys. Our commission structure is 25% - 40%. We introduce the products to our customers via parties or personal shopping appointments. The bulk of our business is in home parties, but there are so many other opportunities . . . daycares, preschools, elementary schools, libraries, doctor's offices . . . wherever there are children! Of course, we also introduce the product through our catalog & web site to those who already know what they want and do not want a home party.

What is your experience so far?  I love Discovery Toys because I believe our children are our future. What I do matters. It is my privilege to reinforce the importance of play with our children. Can you imagine doing something you feel really good about AND GETTING PAID TO DO IT? My hope is to get these incredible products into the hands of as many children as possible, especially those who need them most and who may not have access to them. What advertising has worked for you? Word of mouth mostly. By the time September rolled around my first year, I had over 50 people more than I could do parties for that fall season. There is a terrific need for more consultants.  I meet tons of people by setting up at craft shows, education fairs, women's shows, etc.

What suggestions do you have for new business startups?  Find what you are passionate about . . . and go for it! Share with everyone! Be sure to treat your business as a business.  Decide when YOU want to work and stay consistent.
