When and WHY did you start your work at home business?

I got started with Pre-Paid Legal Services six years ago when I was really looking for a job, not a marketing program. I insisted that "If this is selling, I am NOT interested. I am an engineer, not a salesman". However, the guy persisted, and finally just dropped off a "brick" with a video tape and an audio tape and some brochures. I just happened to be on my way to Santa Cruz on business, so I listened to the audio tape several times. IT JUST MADE SENSE! I saw that a Legal Plan was something that everyone needed--and I didn't need to be a salesman to do well with this product.

Do you have previous business experience?

Business Experience I had--mostly bad! Marketing--None at all. I had to convert myself into a Marketer and a Recruiter. It took me a while, because being "Analytical", I analyzed myself into stagnation. I didn't use the system that was already there that had worked for everyone else. Now I find that the system in place really does work--and I can duplicate the system with others that I bring into the business, and they are having success too. The tools available to us now are dramatically improved from when I was first introduced to Pre-Paid Legal.

How do you juggle family duties and your work?

That is something I have to work with. I see this as such a great opportunity, and the timing is so perfect, that I tend to spend much of my time building the business--with the full expectation that it will pay off when I get my full team up and producing. It is paying off, and Pre-Paid Legal is now paying my mortgage every month!

Tell us about your business!

My business is Pre-Paid Legal Services. We offer Legal Plans to Families, Small Businesses, and as an employee benefit to businesses of any size. In essence, we pay attorney fees by way of a monthly membership program. Most of the needs the average family or business has is covered by a Legal Plan. Everything else is provided at a huge discount from fees normally charged--and it is provided at $17 to $26 per month for a family. It is like an HMO for legal services--call it a Legal Maintenance Organization if you will. We also provide the Identity Theft Shield to help out in the event that you become a victim of Identity Theft--after you become a member. We can't prevent it, but we can minimize the pain and do the restoration work for you and your spouse with one membership. I just enrolled three new associates who earned their first commission checks in less than a week--ranging from $300 to $600 each.

Where and how do you advertise and promote your work at home business?

I work with the local Chamber of Commerce, post on Ryze, and primarily just speak about the service with people I know, work with, or just talk to people I meet wherever I go. Since everyone needs the service, and most don't even know the service exists--the whole USA and Canada are one huge market to us.
