I first saw the toys 2 years before i had my son. I was working at the Home Show and ended up being placed right across from the Discovery Toys booth. Of course during the slow times, I kept going over and playing. I even bought the Tiger Bright Flashlight to have, because it was so cool. The consultant asked me to sell, she could see my love of the toys. I said "no." I was not a parent and could not see how it fit into my life, plus, Direct Sales! Icky.

After I had my son, I couldn't work out a schedule with my boss. Actually, they wouldn't let me go part-time, so I quit. The consultant saw in the paper I had a baby and mailed me a catalog. I looked at it, thought about ordering, never did. She asked me again if I wanted to sell, I said "no!" Was she crazy, I just had a baby?

When my son was 18 months, my friend had a Discovery Toys party. So I went. I did not have a babysitter and took Alex with me. He would not stop playing with the Hammer Away! I wanted everything. I called my husband to see how much I could spend. He gave me a budget, I spent twice that. I then decided to host a party and earn free toys! A few days later, my dog got sick and I needed extra money. I knew my friends also loved Discovery Toys, so I called up the consultant and started asking questions. Before I knew it, I had signed up. I only planned to sell enough to help with the vet expenses and the holidays. I honestly didn't think I'd make any money. I signed up in July. In December, I looked at my business bank account. After buying the toys I wanted for myself, buying holiday gifts for everyone in the family out of my toy money, and paying for expenses, I still had made money! Since there were no group Managers in my area, I decided to promote. I did it 8 months after I signed up, 3 months after I decided that was what I wanted.

2 and 1/2 years later, I'm still here having a blast! I love what I do, and still have a hard time saying it's my job.

That's my story! Discovery Toys has given me a lot back, more then just toys!

Debbie LaCroix,
Discovery Toys Group Manager
