Questions Customers Ask - 4. No logic in the question In this installment of Questions Customers Ask, you’re going to get a real chuckle. I have no doubt of this. The question I am about to cover is probably one of the most confusing that I have ever gotten in selling my informational products. And this is not meant
as a put down of the people asking it, but it really makes me wonder if they
ever bother to read anything before they ask it. The
question they ask will have to wait until I tell you a story. You’re going
to love this. I
got an email one day from a guy who said he had heard about one of my products
and that it got some really great reviews. He wanted to know if I could give
him a link to the sales page so he could read it. I said, sure and I sent him
the link. Now,
let me tell you something about this particular sales page. Unlike the many
sales pages out there that are so cryptic and you really don’t know what the
product is about until after you have purchased it, my sales page spells out
in COMPLETE detail EXACTLY what you are getting in my product. I go over each
bonus book, what information is covered and so on. This way a person has a
very good idea of what is in the package before they decide whether or not to
buy it. Well,
a few hours later, I got an email back from this guy telling me the following,
“Hey, sounds great (good, he read the sales page). I really like the sound
of this. So tell me, what am I getting in this package?” Huh? The
first question I’m tempted to ask is what sounded great. Obviously he
didn’t read the sales page otherwise he’d know what’s in the package. I
spelled the whole thing out in simple and easy to understand English. My
mother, who knows nothing about Internet marketing or making money online,
would have been able to understand what she was getting. At
first, I didn’t know how to respond. I wanted to send back a smart answer
like, “Did you read the sales page or did you just fall down drunk on it?”
I know that’s what many of you would be tempted to do. Well, I didn’t. The
reason I didn’t was simple. The last thing you want to do is tell a
potential customer how stupid they are, even if it’s true. So I simply copy
and pasted the sales page text into the email and sent it back to him. He then
replied with a thanks and bought the product. If
you try to figure out the illogic of what just happened, don’t bother. You
can’t. Just answer the question, even though it’s already answered on the
sales page. In
the next installment of Questions Customers ask, I’m going to share another
puzzling question that I get quite often. It really makes me wonder about how
lazy some people can be.
