Questions Customers Ask - 2. How long will it take to make money?
In this installment of Questions Customers Ask, I’m going to cover the one question that everybody asks me. Okay, maybe not everybody, but at least 90% of the people who either buy or are thinking of buying one of my products. The question is, “How long will it take me to make money with this?” Come on, admit it. You’re laughing right now because you know it’s true. You get this question asked all the time. People want to know how long it’s going to take them to make their fortune online. Anything longer than one day is too long for most of these people. Patience is not one of a marketer’s strong suits. At least not the ones I’ve run into. Okay, so how do you answer a question like this? I mean, come on…you get it all the time so certainly you’ve come up with an answer by now. Maybe not…maybe this question is the one that has got you cursing under your breath because you know if you tell these people the truth you’re probably going to lose the sale. And if you lie, well, can you say refund city? Let’s be honest…This is the toughest question in all of Internet marketing to answer because it gets right to the core of the problem that people have. They want to make money, they don’t know how, and yet they want it right away. The illogic of the whole train of thought boggles my mind, and yet…it exists. So how do I handle it in a way that gets me tons of sales without telling a lie? What I do is put this question back to them. I ask them how quickly they would like to start making money. I ask them for a time frame. And I leave it at that. I then wait to hear back from them. I don’t answer their question. I put the ball back in their court. Then, depending on the answer I get in return, I reply back. Most people are pretty reasonable. They’ll reply back to me with something like, “Well, I’m not looking to get rich overnight. I would like to start making a few hundred to a few thousand a month in about 3 month’s time. Is that doable?” I then send my response. I tell them that if that’s the income they’re looking for and they want it that quickly, then this is what they will have to do and actually map out a realistic game plan for them. I tell them the truth. I tell them exactly what it will take to make that kind if money in that short a time. Most people will appreciate my honesty and end up buying my product. The ones who are looking for a quick buck will never get back to me, and that’s fine. Those people will probably just refund anyway. Be honest. If you’re not, it’s only going to come back to haunt you anyway. But do like I said, put the question back to them. It
does work very well.
