Ideas
are like ears. Everybody has them. They don’t always listen with their ears
but they have them. Likewise, when they get an idea they don’t always run
with it, or if they do, they don’t think it all the way through and end up
with an idea that is half baked at best or totally raw at worst. Talk about
Internet marketing food poisoning. Well, hopefully, this article will give you
some solid ideas on how to come up with a plan that isn’t half baked but
fully cooked and ready to be eaten. The
first thing you need to do, when you get that idea, is realize that there are
very few original ideas in the world. Everything is derived from something
else. It’s just a matter of putting your own unique spin on the idea.
That’s what makes it unique, or at least different. However, just because
your idea isn’t new doesn’t mean that it’s been done successfully. The
truth is, it may not even be possible to get your idea off the ground. Why?
Not all ideas are going to be in demand by a buying public. So,
the first thing you have to do, and this may be the most important, is find
out if people actually give two hoots about what you’re doing. If they
don’t then you’re only wasting your time. You can get this info by
attending forums, going to discussion groups and putting our surveys. Whatever
you do, find out if your idea is worth pursuing. After
you have determined that your idea is something that people have an interest
in, the next step is probably the hardest…thinking the idea all the way
through. The reason this is so hard is because there is no one method for
doing this. It’s going to be different for every idea depending on what that
idea is. For
example, let’s say you came up with an idea for a way to automate the
posting process to forums where you don’t have to physically attend each
forum but can access the various threads from one central location. This way,
you can monitor all your forums from one central location. Assuming you’ve
already found out that people would want to be able to do this, the next step
is to determine what functionality you’re going to include. In
order to do this, you need to understand everything associated with forums.
The main thing is that you need to be logged into every forum that you post
to, assuming each forum requires sign up. And that’s another thing. Will you
make your software capable of signing people up as well or will they need to
be signed up before they can use it? What
about profiles? How are you going to handle multiple profile edits? Obviously,
the software will need to allow for multiple logins at the same time in order
to access each profile. And then usually to actually edit your profile, there
is a separate login, as at the Warrior Forum. The software will need to be
able to handle this. The
above only scratches the surface of what would be needed. Point is, you need
to think through each aspect of your idea or the final product could turn out
to be totally useless. Are
your ideas half baked?
